Description

The Formica Birch Plywood Worktop combines a premium high pressure laminate surface with a high-quality birch plywood core to create a fully bespoke kitchen worktop. Unlike our stocked colour range, we make this worktop to order in over 100 plain colours, allowing you to specify a finish that suits your space exactly. As a result, the typical lead time is 10–14 working days.

This worktop is available in over 100 plain colour options, ranging from soft neutrals and muted tones to bold statement colours. Because each worktop is made to order, the chosen colour is bonded directly to the birch plywood core, creating a clean, consistent finish that pairs with the exposed birch plywood edge for a distinctive modern look.

This worktop forms part of our wider range of worktops, offering the same construction and finish as our stocked colours, with extended design flexibility.

Construction and Materials

High Pressure Laminate Construction for Birch Plywood Worktops

We manufacture the worktop using high pressure laminate (HPL) bonded onto BB/BB grade birch plywood. Because birch plywood is constructed from multiple cross-laminated layers, it offers excellent strength and dimensional stability. Consequently, the worktop performs reliably over time, even in demanding kitchen environments.

The HPL surface forms under high pressure. Therefore, it creates a dense, sealed layer designed for everyday kitchen use while complementing the natural birch plywood edge.

We manufacture every Formica Birch Plywood Worktop in-house to ensure consistent quality and finish.

Performance and Durability

Laminated Surface for Everyday Kitchen Use

This laminated worktop is designed for daily use in both residential and light commercial kitchens. Additionally, the surface stays hygienic and easy to maintain.

  • Water resistant

  • Scratch resistant

  • Heat resistant

  • UV resistant

  • Easy to clean

For this reason, it offers a durable alternative to solid surfaces without compromising on appearance.

Precision Cutting and Finish for Birch Plywood Worktops

Precision Cut Edges on Laminated Birch Plywood Worktops

We cut every Formica Birch Plywood Worktop on a state-of-the-art beam saw as part of our made-to-order process. As a result, this approach ensures straight, accurate cuts and a consistent exposed birch plywood edge. Consequently, installation becomes easier, and the finished worktop maintains a clean, uniform appearance.

We supply each worktop clean-cut and unfinished, ready for edge preparation.

Edge Preparation for Formica Birch Plywood Worktops

Edge Preparation Kit Included

We include a complete edge preparation kit with every order, allowing you to seal and protect the exposed birch plywood edge immediately after installation. Moreover, this helps enhance moisture resistance and bring out the natural colour of the birch.

The kit includes:

  • 100ml Osmo Top Oil – Clear Satin

  • Assorted sandpapers

  • Cloths, sanding block, and preparation guide

Oil Finish for Birch Plywood Edges

Osmo Top Oil for Worktop Edges

We supply Osmo Top Oil because it suits kitchen worktops with exposed plywood edges. Specifically, it is food safe and water resistant, and it penetrates the wood rather than forming a surface layer. Therefore, it will not crack or peel over time.

In addition, spot repairs do not require full sanding. We include a 100ml tin of Clear Satin with every order.

Sizes, Corners and Lead Time

Made-to-Order Sizes and Custom Cutting

We supply worktops with square-cut corners as standard. However, you can request rounded corners in the order notes.

Because this product is fully made to order, we offer free cutting to size. As a result, you can provide your exact dimensions when ordering. The typical lead time is 10–14 working days from order confirmation.

Samples for Formica Birch Plywood Worktops

Made-to-Order Samples

We offer free samples for all colours in this range. However, unlike our stocked colour samples, made-to-order samples are produced specifically for this range. As a result, sample lead times match the extended production schedule.

This ensures you can confidently review the colour and exposed birch plywood edge before committing to a full worktop.

Choosing Between Standard and Made-to-Order Colours

Understanding the Difference

We make our standard Birch Plywood Worktop colours to order using stocked materials, which allows for shorter lead times while maintaining consistent construction and finish. In contrast, the Formica Birch Plywood Worktop offers access to over 100 plain colours, which we produce specifically to order and therefore require a longer manufacturing lead time.

Both options use the same birch plywood core, high pressure laminate surface, and edge finishing process. The difference comes down to colour availability and production time, rather than quality or performance.
