Description

The Adobe Birch Plywood Worktop combines a durable laminated surface with a high-quality birch plywood core to create a practical and visually striking kitchen worktop. Importantly, we manufacture each worktop to order, with a typical lead time of 7–10 working days. As a result, every piece benefits from precise cutting, consistent edges, and a refined modern finish.

The Adobe colour presents a warm, earthy terracotta tone with subtle brown undertones, giving the surface a soft, muted depth rather than a flat solid colour. As a result, it adds warmth and character to a space without overpowering it, working particularly well with natural materials, neutral cabinetry, and modern interiors that favour understated colour.

This worktop forms part of our wider range of worktops, offering consistent construction and finish across multiple colours and sizes.

Construction and Materials

Materials and Build Quality

We manufacture this worktop using high pressure laminate (HPL) bonded onto BB/BB grade birch plywood. Because birch plywood uses multiple cross-laminated layers, it improves strength and reduces movement. Consequently, the worktop remains stable and reliable over time, even in busy kitchen environments.

The laminated surface forms under high pressure. Therefore, it creates a dense, sealed layer designed for daily kitchen use while still complementing the exposed birch plywood edge.

Performance and Durability

Surface Performance for Kitchen Use

This laminated worktop handles everyday kitchen use with ease. Additionally, the surface resists common causes of wear while remaining hygienic and easy to maintain.

  • Water resistant

  • Scratch resistant

  • Heat resistant

  • UV resistant

  • Easy to clean

For this reason, it suits both residential kitchens and light commercial applications.

Cutting, Accuracy and Finish

Precision Cut Birch Plywood Edges

We cut every worktop on a state-of-the-art beam saw as part of our made-to-order process. As a result, this method ensures straight, accurate cuts and a consistent exposed birch plywood edge. Consequently, installation becomes easier and the finished worktop maintains a clean, uniform appearance.

Each worktop arrives clean-cut and unfinished. Therefore, it is ready for edge preparation on delivery.

Edge Preparation and Protection

Edge Preparation Kit Included

Every order includes a complete edge preparation kit. As a result, you can seal and protect the exposed birch plywood edge immediately after installation. Moreover, this step improves moisture resistance and enhances the natural colour of the birch.

The kit includes:

  • 100ml Osmo Top Oil – Clear Satin

  • Assorted sandpapers

  • Cloths, sanding block, and preparation guide

Oil Finish for Birch Plywood Edges

Edge Preparation Kit Included

We supply Osmo Top Oil because it suits kitchen worktops with exposed plywood edges. Specifically, it is food safe and water resistant, and it penetrates the wood rather than forming a surface layer. Therefore, it will not crack or peel over time.

In addition, spot repairs do not require full sanding. We include a 100ml tin of Clear Satin with every order.

Sizes, Corners and Custom Cutting

Custom Sizes and Corner Options

We supply worktops with square-cut corners as standard. However, you can request rounded corners or a specific radius in the order notes.

Because we manufacture each worktop to order, we offer free cutting to size. As a result, you can provide your dimensions when ordering. The typical lead time is 7–10 working days.

HPL Compared to Standard Laminated Worktops

Why High Pressure Laminate Performs Better

Many laminated worktops use melamine or CPL, which offer reduced durability. In contrast, high pressure laminate forms under significantly higher pressure.

Consequently, the surface resists impact, moisture, and heat more effectively. For this reason, it performs better in demanding kitchen environments and over long-term use.

Alternative Colours and Made-to-Order Options

Available Birch Plywood Worktop Colours

In addition to our stocked colour range, we also manufacture a Formica Birch Plywood Worktop in over 100 plain colour options. However, these worktops are made to order, which means a longer lead time of 10–14 working days.

Unlike our stocked colour samples, Formica samples are also made to order. As a result, free samples remain available but require additional production time before dispatch.
